As many of you are aware I'm an advocate with the drug companies in helping people who cannot afford their meds get them free or at a low co-pay. Many of these same companies stopped the programs when Part D Rx plan became available. I am overjoyed to let all know that Glaxo-SmithKline (Bridges to Access) has announced a new plan for Part D enrollees. GSK Access, will provide eligible patients with a GSK Access Card which can be used at their local pharmacy to obtain non-oncology meds at no charge to the patient. Income must be at or below 250% of the federal poverty level and must have spent $600 or more during the calendar year on prescription meds through the Part D Plan. Enrollees who qualify for the full SSA LIS will not be eligible. This program is created to mainly help those who fall between the cracks of the system. Not eligible for LIS and not enough funds to cover meds. GSK plans to continue to offer its existing program for oncology meds. Medicare patients not enrolled in Part D will continue to remain eligible for GSK's existing programs. If you know of anyone who could be of assistance to this new program or have questions you can alway contact me via email....
